Following the disgraceful conduct of Concentrix in relation their mishandling of tax credits Peter Dowd MP joined the calls in parliament for an official enquiry into their ineptitude.
Many families in the Bootle area have been in touch with the terrible circumstances following their cancellation of tax credits for no just reason. Despite supplying all the information Concentrix have not been as quick to restart payments as they were to cancel.
Peter said “I welcome the fact that HMRC has finally taken action by announcing that the Concentrix contract will not be renewed. However, it is regrettable that the Government did this only when events were exposed by the media and raised by Opposition MPs.
The Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury rightly pressed the Government to commit to an official investigation into Concentrix’s conduct, so that it can be determined how this situation was allowed to arise. I was disappointed that the Government refused to hold an inquiry. I am concerned that Concentrix will be carrying out these services for another eight months and that there is therefore a risk that without amendments to the contract, service failures will continue. The Government should urgently revise the contract to preserve justice for the claimants.
I am holding a special surgery at my constituency office – Opportunity House, 270 Marsh Lane, Bootle for local constituents to discuss their cases with me on Saturday 24th September between 10.30 and 1.00pm. In the meantime people affected can call my constituency office on 933 8432.
